Strategies in Community Engagement
Community engagement surely is a buzz word in the Public Art realm, but what does it take for public artists to engage with a community in a meaningful and successful way? NEFA is actively involved in supporting Public Art and New England's Creative Economy and is pleased to present a session that brings together artists, creative economy practitioners, and community participants. Join us at the Roxbury Center for the Arts at Hibernian Hall to hear from a panel of public artists speak about their community engagement projects. As always, there will be plenty of time for networking! SPEAKERS
Special introduction to community engagement by Khalida Smalls, Program Director of Member Organizing at Alternatives for Community and Environment in Roxbury, MA.
Project presenters include:
- Boston artist Carolina Aragon and Lillian Hsu of the Cambridge Arts Council presenting Flocks
- Curator and consultant Michelle Cohen and New York artist Robyn Love presenting Unconditional Yes
- Rhode Island based artist and administrator Howie Sneider presenting the Railroad Street Youth Project.
