City Life/Vida Urbana (CL/VU), in collaboration with artists Zafiro Patino (CL/VU organizer) and Dey Hernandez and Jorge Diaz (AgitArte), will center our grassroots organizing towards housing justice with a vitalization of the arts. As we mobilize towards achieving statewide housing justice policy campaigns, we look to capture the essence of our communities’ resilience against housing displacement through banner-making, signs, skits and more that are displayed and/or performed in our public actions. These artworks will be created during a series of workshops facilitated by the lead artists, who have experience conveying their lived stories and perspectives through their medium. In this project and our annual cultural showcases, we hope to uplift the importance of social housing in our communities, the current obstacles that prevent community stabilization, and the power and resilience we have to organize and remain in our communities.
