Online applications must be submitted by midnight on the deadline date. NEFA staff is available for assistance Monday-Friday, 9AM-5PM EST.
We encourage first time applicants to contact NEFA prior to applying. All applications will be received through NEFA’s online grant system.

Applications include:
- Online Application form (with Narrative, Project Timeline and Budget sections)
Narrative questions:
- Describe the proposed project. Include the site location, communities to be served, and any additional stakeholders. Describe how the project benefits the community.
- Describe your process for selecting the artist(s) for the project. If the artist has already been selected, describe why this artist is a good fit for your project and community.
- Describe how the artist will interact with and engage the communities served through education or participation.
- Describe your organization’s place within the community and relationship to residents. Discuss relationships with community partners, city departments and state agencies who may engage with the artist(s). Also, include information on prior collaborations with artists.
Supplementary Materials include:
- Up to 10 supporting images. Supporting images should include images of the site, the artist’s past work (if applicable), and conceptual drawings of the project (if applicable). Images should be in JPEG format, no larger than 2MB each and should be titled in the following format: “organization name_###”.
- Image list with brief description in the body of the supporting image email
- Artist(s) resume (if applicable)
- Copies of approvals and permits (if applicable)
- Maintenance documents (if applicable)
- Optional: letters of support from collaborating partners (no more than 3 please)
All supplementary materials should be emailed to NEFA at publicart@nefa.org. Please title the subject line in the following format: “FFA_ Organization Name_###” (please number emails if documents do not fit in one).
Please do not submit materials in excess of what is required. Applications that are late or incomplete will not be considered.
Fund for the Arts award decisions are made annually in the spring. Selected applicants will have one year from the award date to complete the activities that NEFA funding supports.
