3S Artspace plans to use this grant for two public performances that will include Boston Dance Theater’s (BDT) newest program, The Carol Kaye Project, which celebrates seminal bassist Carol Kaye. We are partnering with Harvard University in Cambridge and SPACE in Portland to bring this program to 3 New England states.
Boston Dance Theater is Boston’s first contemporary dance repertory company with international ties at the leadership level. With a commitment to presenting works of socio-political relevance, BDT matches the talents of Boston-based dancers with acclaimed global choreographers, broadening the scope of contemporary dance practice and performance.
The workshop, Everybody can learn a dance!, includes 1-2 BDT Members leading participants through a gentle body warm up and teaching a gestural movement phrase from BDT’s repertoire. No prior dance training is required. Appropriate for adults, college, or high school age, and suitable for individuals that must remain seated.
