For our inaugural Juneteenth Celebration, 651 ARTS is thrilled to premiere the film adaptation of Charles O. Anderson/dance theatre X’s (Re)current Unrest and screen 4 other films. On June 18 and 19, we invite our community to join us in-person—on the steps of our future home—for a weekend of “silent” DJ listening parties and film screenings. We gather to celebrate our liberation and self-determination and to honor our ancestors’ spirit of resistance and resilience. Our community is also invited to view the film screenings online on June 20 and view virtual panels throughout the weekend, including an intergenerational panel featuring Anderson in conversation with his artistic collaborators.
