Abrons Arts Center is pleased to present jumatatu poe and Donte Beacham’s Let ‘im Move You in fall 2019. Over six weeks, poe and Beacham will organize live performances (10/10-12 in Abrons’ Experimental Theater), a gallery installation (10/10-13 in Abrons’ galleries), a college course (9/9 – 10/19 at Lehman College and New School’s Eugene Lang College), a street performance (10/9 on the Lower East Side), and a local dance party (10/12 at NuBlu151). Focusing on J-Sette—a high-energy, follow-the-leader dance style popularized by the Prancing J-Settes, Jackson State University’s dance team—these events will center queer performance traditions on the Lower East Side and beyond.
