In May of 2025, The Apollo’s Education Program will present The Baby Laurence Legacy Project through its School Day Live initiative. The piece, created by Brinae Ali, is an archival/performative process that celebrates Donald “Baby Laurence” Jackson’s influence on tap dance and jazz music. Alongside compositions of Baby Laurence’s work performed by members of the Baltimore Jazz Collective, Ali combines choreography and multi-media components to celebrate this iconic artist’s legacy.
