Raised by a schizophrenic single mother fueled by political conspiracy and family dysfunction, award-winning filmmaker Clyde Petersen’s adolescence unfolds in a series of baffling and hallucinated events. In Torrey Pines, Petersen brings audiences along for a beautiful, confusing, heartbreaking and funny cross-county ride with stop-motion animation film set to the score of a live rock band. This trans-queer-punk coming-of-age story is rich with nineties’ pop-culture references in the likes of Nintendo and MTV. Seattle band Your Heart Breaks performs the vivid score live with the film, with original music recorded in collaboration with members of The Moldy Peaches and Death Cab for Cutie.
