ASU Gammage will present Step Afrika in residency and formal performance of "Drumfolk" October 24-29, 2022. Residency work will center on the source material of Drum Folk, The Negro Act of 1740 and Step Afrika's approach to Step Dancing in the context of creating work for a dance company as well as education and community engagement. ASU Gammage staff and artistic director Brian Williams have begun designing the residency. Confirmed residency partners are ASU's Center for the Study of Race and Democracy (CSRD), The Black and African Coalition student group (BAC), ASU African American Faculty and Staff Association, The ASU Multi-Cultural Student Center, the ASU Dance Department and Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church/Phoenix.
