Crocodile River Music is a nonprofit collective of musicians dedicated to sharing the rich musical and dance traditions of West African cultures, and they are a perfect fit for the celebratory nature of BarnArts Masquerade Jazz & Funk Winter Music Carnival! This annual event is a family-friendly celebration of music and community centered around a “masquerade” theme with a mask making table, photo booth area, and an extensive taco bar - all included in admission. The evening begins with sets by local jazz stars, a swing band, and a high school jazz band. As the headliner, Crocodile River Music will also visit the high school on Friday to connect and offer collaboration on stage with the student musicians. Masquerade is a beloved BarnArts staple that brings together a diverse group of attendees and performers to joyfully gather in a typically isolating time of year. Crocodile River’s visit will include 3 school/community workshops and 2 public performances.
