Bates Dance Festival

Bates Dance Festival will present a work-in-progress of Shura Baryshnikov’s newest work - Bach in Stripes, exploring how the immediacy of the body projects into the breath and facial expressions that voice our most vulnerable and powerful expressions of want, need, defense, disgust, and aggression. Shura will show a 15-minute excerpt in an evening of work by BDF artists and faculty members. The event will be free and open to the public and there will be a facilitated talkback after the piece. In addition, Shura will teach two courses during the BDF Professional Training Program that will inform the work that she’s making - Contact Improvisation and Somatics into Solo Movement.
