Artists Yu-Wen Wu and Mel Taing will create culturally and linguistically responsive works and public programs for Chinese-speaking and Chinatown audiences for Pao Arts Center’s summer 2025 exhibit. Gardens at Pao Arts Center, curated by Dr. Gabrielle Niu, will feature this new work Taing and Wu, alongside existing work by sculpture Ming Fay (1943-2025). The project will transform the Center’s public gallery into a gathering space that expands on the role of gardens in the community within the city, diasporas, and everyday engagement with the natural world by asking, “What is a garden?”
