Rev. Sekou & the Freedom Fighters will perform at the Springfield Jazz & Roots Festival on August 15, 2020. Born in St. Louis, Missouri and raised in the rural Arkansas Delta, Rev. Sekou's music is a unique combination of Arkansas Delta Blues, Memphis Soul, 1970s funk, and Gospel. In addition to being a musician, Reverend Osagyefo Sekou is a noted activist, theologian, author, and documentary filmmaker. Rev. Sekou will share his experience and perspective on community organizing and activism in a community outreach program focused on climate justice.
