This fall, the Phantom Limb Company returns to BAM with FALLING OUT, a devised theater work that concludes a trilogy grappling with the climate crisis and human relationships to the environment. Using stories of romantic breakups as a metaphor for the lost connection that once existed between humans and the earth, FALLING OUT utilizes a variety of forms including butoh, ballet, puppetry, and music to disrupt complacency around climate change. With Japan's environmental shifts and transformations being the backbone of the story, the piece steps outside the Western narrative and opens up the dialogue between two different cultures and political environments.
