In fall 2016, BAM will welcome Brooklyn-based choreographer nora chipaumire with portrait of myself as my father, in the BAM Fisher as part of the 2016 Next Wave Festival. Performed inside a makeshift boxing ring, chipaumire and a male dancer explore the African male identity through a blend of traditional African and contemporary dance. BAM will offer a post-show Q&A as well as a choreography master class with chipaumire as part of this engagement.
