Carolina Theatre of Durham

While hosting the Pioneer Winter Collective for a residency at the Carolina Theatre, we assisted the artists with hosting an Artist Talk & Reception event and a workshop open to the public. The Artist Talk & Reception event was held at the Carolina Theatre and invited the public to talk to the Pioneer Winter Collective about collective's Adrienne Arsht Center-commissioned dance-theater piece "Birds of Paradise and their current work-in-progress "Apollo". The workshop held at American Dance Festival's studios had attendees participate in and examine the creative process that built the collective's work, "Birds of Paradise." After screening excerpts from the project, workshop participants were guided in creating their own solo "dance portraits" using imagery, discussion, writing/movement prompts, and lived experience.
