The Center for Arts at the Armory is hosting the Boston-based band Zili Misik for a "For All Souls" performance in our Performance Hall (capacity 395) on Sunday, October 30, 2022, and a workshop to take place in our Cafe on the same day. Founded in 2000, Zili Misik is a seven-member award-winning, all female, multi-racial and multi-ethnic band that has been bridging cultures, generations, and continents for 20 years. Through their performance that reconnects roots music of the African diaspora, including jazz, Haitian roots, highlife, reggae, samba, Cuban son, African American spirituals and neo soul, Zili Misik breaks down dividing lines between us and invites us to pour a libation for the ancestors that paved the way for our existence. Zili Misik retraces routes of forced exile and cultural resistance, infusing traditional folk songs with self-reflective, positive lyrics that glide from English to Kreyòl to Kriolu to Spanish, spinning tales of lives lived and yet to be.
