The Center for Arts at the Armory

The Center for Arts at the Armory will present the Fabiola Mendez Trio on October 29, 2023 as a part of her New England Tour, made possible by partnering with The Dance Hall in Kittery, ME and BarnArts Center for the Arts in Barnard, VT. Fabiola Mendez is a Puerto Rican cuatro player, educator, and composer that has spearheaded a musical movement and fresh musical style, integrating elements from folk, jazz & Latin music. In her most recent album, “Afrorriqueña” (2021), Fabiola reflects on the experience of being a black Puerto Rican woman. Prior to her performance, there will be a free screening of Fabiola Méndez's project "Negrura," an audiovisual storytelling experience that showcases the stories of Afro-Latinx folks from Boston’s Latin Quarter Cultural District. Tickets for the concert will cost $20 and $22 DOS, with free admission available to low-income community members.
