The Center for Arts at the Armory Spotlight Series will present Dobet Gnahoré from Ivory Coast in the Armory Performance Hall in Somerville, MA. Preceding the evening performance, Dobet will conduct a free community dance workshop. With her amazing voice, incredible dance moves, powerful stage presence, and colorful sense of style, GRAMMY-winner Dobet Gnahoré is one of Africa's most revered and respected talents. Backed by her band of four musicians, she will be touring in advance of the release of her newest album, Zouzou, produced by Momo Wang, aka Dr. Wang (Aya Nakamura), one of Abidjan’s most in demand beat makers and producer for top international talents. Zouzou showcases Gnahoré's continuing efforts to draw on the creative energy of Abidjan, a bustling African metropolis that has emerged from years of conflict to become one of West Africa’s most important economic engines and creative centers.
