The Telling Project, a non-profit organization, turns stories of military service into stage plays, through which veterans and their families enact their stories in front of a live audience. The Telling Project puts veterans in front of their communities to share their stories, placing veterans and civilians together in a familiar and non-confrontational setting - the theater. Since 2008, The Telling Project has produced 50+ original performances featuring hundreds of veterans in 16 states. During a six-month residency, veterans and family members are interviewed, a script is constructed from the transcripts, and a local theatre director then guides the veterans to the public performance.
