Chelvanaya Gabriel and Mari Champagne

In October 2020, Chelvanaya Gabriel, Mari Champagne and the Youth Empowerment Arts Collective partnered with Victoria Mancheno of The Invincible Project and BIPOC youth from Springfield to paint a mural representing a vision of harmony and resilience in the face of persistent injustice against BIPOC. As artists and activists, we claim space and tell our stories, including ones from our ancestral & cultural lineages, as interrupters of ingrained patterns of inequity. The mural is located in Northampton on the Norwottuck Rail Trail/91-S underpass.
