The Center for the Arts plans to present an evening concert with the Zimbabwean acappella choral group, Nobuntu, on Thursday, Oct. 1, with a school show on the following day for k-6 students. Through performance and explanation, students will be given an authentic look at the importance of music and dance to the African culture.
Dance students on campus will be invited to participate in an interactive workshop, in which they will learn the origin and meaning of African rhythms.
In support of the ensemble’s belief that music can transcend racial, tribal, religious, gender and economic boundaries, a panel discussion on diversity will also be held.
