Burlington Taiko is a New England based group that has been sharing the powerful, spellbinding and propulsive sounds of the Taiko for 35 years. They have introduced over half a million people to the power of taiko via public performances and have been featured in performances across New England, the West Coast and Japan. The Keene International Festival brings in over 1400 people annually and Burlington Taiko will be the featured artists of the event in the fall or 2022. For a hands on experience, there will be a taiko drumming station at the festival prior to the concert. Burlington Taiko will include a performance of the Japanese 'Lion Dance' in which the performer mimics a lion's movements in a lion mask/costume. Prior to the festival this Lion Dance will be taught to local 5th graders who will help lead a parade at the festival with the Lion Dancer. Additional local schools will create Japanese Lion’s Masks, hearing Japanese stories and learning about the culture.
