Our initial focus is on rethinking the fertile ground around the Charles River and MSH which relied on the land to feed and nourish thousands of patients daily, as it did for the Nipmuc and Massachusetts tribes for thousands of years prior. Closed since 2003, MSH also leveraged the therapeutic effects of the environment to heal patients. Our goal is to reimagine this literal and figurative watershed as a place of healing again for both indigenous people who have not been part of a planning process, and for non-indigenous people re-examining their roles in colonization and perpetuation of trauma, inspired by the abolition of our Native American school logo in August, 2020.
