The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago has curated CIRCLES, a series of engagements exhibiting the creative power and prowess of the African American female experience through the lens of Staycee Pearl, for our Spring 2023 season. The blending of popular dance styles, club music, fashion, and femininity with an undeniable contemporary based movement vocabulary is hallmark in this work. We are excited to share this innovative mash up with the local dance community as well as Columbia students.
Plans for our engagement with Staycee Pearl Dance Project are as follows:
- Sound Design Lecture for students of Columbia's Dance and Music departments -- 2/7/23
- Contemporary Technique Master Class with Staycee Pearl/dancers -- 2/8/23
- Contemporary Technique Community Master Class with Staycee Pearl/dancers --2/9/23
- Two performances of “CIRCLES: going in” --2/10/23-2/11/23
- Two post-performance discussions will take place immediately following each run -- 2/10/23-2/11/23
