Christal Brown will bring her work “What We Ask of Flesh” to The Dance Complex this coming spring. Inspired by the writings of poet Remica Bingham-Risher, the caregiver's journey through Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, the navigation of grief and the redemption of joy; Brown and her company explore the tapestry between internal and external realities. The work includes the embodiment of the subject matter and media projection, live music, all assisting the audience’s journey of truth and triumph.

Christal’s residency at The DC will be the week of April 21, 2025, and will culminate in two public performances of “What We Ask of Flesh”. Her visit will include engagement with African American elders at St. Paul’s AME Zion Church, and with local dancers and youth through workshops at The DC. Christal will also visit Cambridge prior to her residency week to develop community ties in advance of performance week
