The Dance Complex

We anticipate that Jenna Riegel will be on site at The Dance Complex for a period of 3 - 4 days including the performances of her work February 28-March 2, 2025. In addition to technical rehearsals, and two performances, we will collaborate with Jenna to offer a master class in technique, followed by a choreographic strategies/tools workshop delving into process by which she created Varvara. Divining new art created/inspired by visual art offers a process to be experimented with among our dance-maker community.

We will offer pre and post show opportunities for dialogue with Jenna and audience, including online conversations held 4 weeks ahead, and videotaped for use up to the performance.

Bates Dance Festival and The DC are in dialogue about the potential of hosting more BDF faculty and associates to hold classes the same weekend of Jenna’s residency, in effort to create a dynamic environment of exchange among artists, in addition to audience.
