The Dance Hall will present Danza Orgánica’s “Cuerpx” (working title) on April 27, 2024. This new work is focused on the imprints of colonialism, religion, and patriarchy in the body. How do we recognize, reflect upon, choose to shed, and create new liberated realities? What does that look like within the context of colonized bodies? How do we take responsibility for our learned colonial behaviors that wrongfully impact the health of our land? This dance-theater journey will incorporate storytelling, site-specific ritual, bodywork, and installation. The work will be a collaboration between Danza Orgánica, Proyecto Melaza Puerto Rico-based members, and a partnership with Taino and Afroboricua artists and musicians. In addition to the performance, the company will offer a master class open to the public.
