Dancing Earth

In collaboration with historian Dr. Estevan Rael-Gálvez, BOUND/UNBOUND: Moving Shadows of Slavery is a choreo-archive examining of the hidden lineage of Native slavery in US Southwest cultures, uplift the complexity of mixed cultural heritage. Dancing Earth commissions choreographer Sarah Hogland-Gurulé (descendant of this enslavement) to translate decades of experiential research into contemporary dance, contextualized within multi-sensory immersive experiences that includes community aspen branch gathering, story-sharing dinners with locally grown foods, oral history soundscapes, documentary imagery and an exhibition of post-1848 archival material.
