The UCR Residency with Grupo Sotzi'l will include: Week 1 (April 28-May 4): Arrival, land outing (Mockingbird Canyon, coordinated with Sherman Indian High School cultural leader); two on-campus workshops with UCR students (1 dance, 1 material culture i.e. musical instrument building); film screening of Sotz'il films and/or cultural protocol/dance sharing with local Cahuilla dance leaders (and possibly one or two visiting Indigenous choreographers) at the Culver.
Week 2 (May 5-12) Preparations for outdoor performance of "Uk’u’x Ulew: Heart of Earth" in Lot 30; possible additional dance or music work
