Kamil Peters, artist based in Ludlow, MA, will work closely with DIY Lowell to lead a community conversation and create a temporary public sculpture interpreting "Black joy." This installation is part of Visualize Lowell's Black History, an exhibition throughout downtown Lowell that highlights the story of Lowell’s Black community that is often overshadowed by Lowell's industrial history. DIY Lowell aims to help community members work together to improve public spaces through small projects, and hopes this installation will make visitors and residents alike feel invited and celebrated in our downtown.
