The Dragon's Egg Studio/Mystic Paper Beasts

New York-based Cornfield Dance performs the CT premiere of The Wasp in the Window and Other Dances at The Dragon’s Egg in Ledyard, CT, on August 23, 2022, preceded by an open class/rehearsal to be observed by local community. Local dancers will participate in the class at the discretion of the company. Plein Aire artists will be invited to observe class, sketch, and exhibit their work. Poets will be invited to take inspiration from the source material for The Wasp in the Window and the performance itself. Later in the summer, Dragon's Egg Director Marya Ursin will follow up the Cornfield Dance performance with classes that encourage local dancers to reflect on the technique they witnessed during the performance. An in-person and online poetry reading and a showing of art and dance, inspired by the event, will take place. We anticipate that this single day performance event by the extraordinary Cornfield Dance will spawn many creative responses in our community.
