"Our Faces: Immigrant Inheritance in East Somerville” will create a visual representation of the unique migration stories of East Somerville’s residents. Led by BIPOC immigrant artist Andrés Duarte and East Somerville Main Streets Programs Director Paula Ochoa, the project will weave these personal narratives into a public artwork that honors the community’s diverse history. The artwork will be shaped by the community through gatherings where Duarte will collaborate with photographers and videographers to capture stories of immigration. The completed installation will be unveiled in the neighborhood, where the community will come together to celebrate their shared histories and identities. The artwork will also be displayed in storefronts, vacant spaces, and flagpoles along Broadway, serving as a lasting reminder of the community’s immigration narratives.
