ReCloaking: ReCircling” is a community art initiative designed to infuse public parks in Jamaica Plain and Turners Falls with Traditional Ecological Knowledge. Led by Elizabeth James Perry of the Aquinnah Wampanoag and mica rose of Tagalog American descent, this project seeks to re-indigenize public spaces through the creation of four woven willow tree screen installations and a series of circlekeeping workshops that foster a relational, life-sustaining culture.
Each installation will engage the community in Native science, history, and somatic practices through activities such as cornhusk weaving, candlemaking, altarbuilding, and sessions designed to empower civic engagement and collective action. The project will conclude with political education and advocacy strategies workshops, enriching community ties and promoting long-term engagement in Indigenous and ecological advocacy.
