FirstWorks will present Cirque Mechanics’ "Pedal Punk." This bike-oriented theatrical presentation will develop new audiences for the arts ranging from avid bikers, designers, and urban planners. Planned engagement activities include a student edu-workshop performance; a circus-arts workshop; a design workshop with Cirque Mechanics founder and New England native Chris Lashua; creative conversations about new circus arts, the Steampunk aesthetic, and the mechanics of bikes; and two pre-show bike events: a Pedal Punk cycling procession to the theater and a “try a bike” JumpStart for audience members to try different kinds of bikes.
