Manual Cinema's presence in Rhode Island in early 2018 signifies a rich opportunity for FirstWorks to engage audiences including local youth and the maker community, as well as creating new links between RI puppet artists, multimedia creators, and live music audiences. Along with the evening performance of "Ada/Ava" that will be presented as part of FirstWorks' Frontier Series of groundbreaking artists, Manual Cinema will conduct community workshops, participate in a reception that will gather together local artists and creative entrepreneurs, and conduct a lecture-demonstration for youth including Teen Correspondents, sparking new projects that will continue after the residency is over.
