FirstWorks

With NEFA’s support, FirstWorks is eager to premiere a new collaborative work led by local violinist EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks. East Meets West is described as “a fusion of American folk music and the colorful Brazilian flair with the flavor of Eastern melodic forms.” This new work is part of FirstWorks’ commissioning program to lift local artists and was selected through a competitive RFP process led by a local cultural leader panel.

The culminating performance – featuring EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks on violin and fiddle, Jing Wang on erhu and Piero Guimaraes on marimba, vibraphone and hand percussion – will be part of a robust residency that unites local creatives with world class artists.
