FirstWorks is eager to bring award-winning street dance pioneer duo from Boston to Providence for a residency to engage the local community. The Wondertwins’ That’s Entertainment will bring audiences into the Creative Capital to experience live arts, driving needed business to downtown establishments that were shuttered during the height of the pandemic. FirstWorks is a leading presenter of dance in RI, showcasing local, regional, and global talent from Shura Baryshnikov to Rennie Harris Puremovement to Paul Taylor Dance Company.
The Wondertwins’ work has been praised as “a journey of laughter, awe, entertainment, tears of joy and pain, feelings of hope and love, and evokes a greater passion for life and connection of community.”
The project aligns with our goals to advance BIPOC artists in our curation, as well as our “Raise Your Voice” theme of celebrating diversity. True to our model, we will leverage community partners to expand our reach and attract a wide audience.
