Spiderwoman Theater is an Indigenous women's performance troupe that blends traditional art forms with Western theater. Named after Spider Grandmother from Hopi mythology, it is the longest-running Indigenous theatre company in the United Stated. The grant will fund two evening performances at Cloquet (MN) High School (a district with 25% Ojibwe students). In addition to the performances, Spiderwoman Theater is also engaging with a broad community across Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin through the following: A welcome feast at Northland College in Ashland, WI. A storyweaving workshop for aspiring and professional Indigenous storytellers in the area. A lecture and demonstration workshop for theater and Native American students at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College and surrounding community members.
