Friends of Merrymeeting bay

Based on the success of their current NEST-funded Your Town project, Friends of Merrymeeting Bay (FOMB) would like Piti Theatre to return to Maine for a whole new "Your Town" program in 2024 about parts of our local history not addressed this year. As part of FOMB's Hands Around the Bay program, Piti artists will continue researching our region's local and natural history and adapt their dramatic framework based on 19th century rural New England history focused on Bowdoinham's connections with other rural towns like Dresden and Richmond whom we serve. Piti's "streaming theatre" living history offering will be a pre-recorded video filmed on location in Bowdoinham, Dresden and Richmond, drawing inspiration from fishing and ice harvesting as two natural resource-based vocations. Our community engagement component will be a one week afterschool theatre residency in Bowdoinham.
