George Mason University’s Center for the Arts will present Hamid Rahmanian’s Song of the North as part of its 2023-2024 Great Performances at Mason series. The large-scale, cinematic performance combines the manual art of shadow puppetry with projected animation to tell the courageous tale of Princess Manijeh, a heroine from ancient Persia. In addition to a public performance in the 1,900 seat Concert Hall, the company will present one schooltime matinee performance offered free to local public school children, will conduct two educational activities for Mason students, and will participate in a Pre-Performance Discussion, which is offered for free to ticket holders.
