AHA! Night Freestyle Rap Cypher was started by Hendrick Hernandez in 2008. The purpose of bringing the cypher back is apply the original mission and expose our city to a marginalized art form. The cypher will be held in partnership with/at The Co-Creative Center in New Bedford, MA and AHA! New Bedford. Each cypher will take place from on the 2nd Thursday of the month, from 7-9PM, and will be held from April - September 2023. Each cypher will be hosted by a local artist, will include 1 featured local emcee as well as 1 producer/studio who will donate non-exclusive instrumentals in order to highlight local talent. This will also draw these artists fans into participation. The cypher will be open to the public for participation and spectating. We will play rhyming games as well as have an open mic portion for spontaneous creation. This event will be family friendly. We plan to film each cypher and the events leading up to in hopes of creating a short film.
