Naughty Bits is a dance-play set inside creator/performer Sara Juli’s memories, which examine survivor hood, while finding levity within tragedy. It is a performance piece that explores the impacts of trauma on the brain stemming from childhood sexual assault. Juli's mission is to explore her own personal struggles through the medium of performance. In sharing her work, she creates space for audiences to access their own challenges or traumas. Her solo performance fuses movement, text, song, audience interaction and comedy to both acknowledge the gravity of her burdens as well as simultaneously laugh at their reality. Outreach to mental health and wellness organizations such as Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, Sexual Assault Response Services of Southern Maine and private therapists to participate in a post-production panel are underway. Through this new, original work, Juli's private mental struggles will be laid bare to open up public discourse, exploration and healing.
