Small Island Big Song invites audiences to explore the little-known cultural connections that unite 400 million people living on islands spanning the Indian and Pacific oceans. Highly-respected Indigenous musicians join filmmakers, scientists, and poets to create this multimedia performance work. At the Hop, the 8 female performers will be joined by the young Marshall Islands poet and climate activist Selina Leem. The Hop will feature this work as part of its “Convergence” series on art/science/environment interdisciplinarity. Activities will include specifically-targeted K-12 educational performances and workshops for youth as well as college students and the general public.
