The Hop will present The Garifuna Collective in a free outdoor concert and drumming workshop on July 13, 2023. UNESCO has recognized Garifuna language, culture, and music as a "masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity", and the mission of the Garifuna Collective is to spread its music, history, and culture to audiences around the world. In addition to the performance and community workshop, the artists will engage with Dartmouth students from the Shabazz Center for Intellectual Inquiry.
