The Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston

On October 18 and 19, 2019, the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston (ICA) will present Nora Chipaumire’s Trilogy. In keeping with Chipaumire’s practice of blurring the edges of dance, performance art, and experimental theater, this work takes the form of a “three-part album,” in which she examines the music and performance personas of Patti Smith, Grace Jones, and Rit Nzele, reinterpreting each artist as a symbol of personal discovery, political awakening, and collective liberation. The ICA will host two pre-performance talks and one post-show Q&A. In addition, the museum will host a post-show meeting with local choreographers, and the artist will engage with the ICA and other local teens.
