“New Work for Goldberg Variations” is an evening-length piece for piano and six female dancers by classical pianist Simone Dinnerstein and choreographer Pam Tanowitz. Dinnerstein, one of today’s foremost Bach interpreters and a Goldberg specialist, brings a nuanced understanding of the demanding score; Tanowitz’s choreography uses a slyly deconstructed classical vocabulary to translate it into movement. After a one-week Summer Stages Dance @ ICA residency in July, with an open rehearsal and conversations with local dancers/choreographers, the ICA will present the final work December 8, 9 and 10, 2017, with public talks, a Q&A, and a reception/conversation with Boston dance/music communities.
