Song of the Jasmine is a new dance piece created in collaboration with saxophonist/composer Rudresh Mahanthappa and Ragamala Dance. Taking inspiration from the transformative Bhakti poetry of medieval South India, the piece combines innovation and tradition exploring notions of American identity, global citizenship, and the divine. The Festival will present four performances in June 2015 as part of its 20th anniversary season. Engagement activities include workshops, panel lectures, and classes.
