Island Moving Company

Newport Contemporary Ballet (formerly Island Moving Company) has selected Boston Dance Theater as the Resident Dance Company for its 2023 Newport Dance Festival. The Festival draws more than a thousand people for a six-day event on the grounds of the Great Friends Meeting House in Newport, RI. Several additional dance companies from across the region and around the world participate. Boston Dance Theater will be in Newport for a two-week residency beginning Monday July 10, 2023 and performing on five of the six evenings of the Festival, which runs July 18-23. Boston Dance Theater will also lead selected classes and develop choreography for the two-week Summer Dance Intensive that runs concurrent with the Festival, and will participate in artist talks, workshops and social events. We are requesting a NEST1 grant to assist with the $4,000 contract fee for Boston Dance Theater.
