Liz Lerman returns to the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, August 10-13, 2022, with Wicked Bodies, her newest work developed in part through the Pillow Lab residency program. Wicked Bodies explores the discreet ways in which femine thinking and action have been celebrated, erased, or criminalized.
Liz Lerman is a choreographer, performer, and one of America’s premiere champions of community-based dance. The founder of the performing ensemble Dance Exchange, Lerman has spent the last four decades creating work that is funny, personal, and intellectually vivid. Lerman is a MacArthur Fellow and a Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award recipient whose work is rooted in intense research, described as having “expansive range, emotional depth and singular beauty” (The Washington Post). An early innovator of radical inclusion, Liz Lerman opens her creative process to everyone from shipbuilders to physicists and ballerinas; resulting in experiences that are participatory, relevant, and urgent.
